‘Some days are great, everything goes right. Some days are hell, everything goes wrong... but you just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you get there’.
Mary has done over 1382 miles, the equivalent of 53 marathons, in 94 days, at the age of 65, all to raise money for the RNLI.
How would you mark your 50th year in athletics? Most of us might be tempted to hang up our runners and give ourselves a well earned pat on the back. Not Mary Nolan-Hickey. The dedicated 65 year old runner has completed all 38 Dublin Marathons, a Marathon de Sables and is currently three quarters of the way through an epic journey. She started running anti-clockwise around the entire coast of the island of Ireland, leaving her hometown of Arklow Co. Wicklow on New Year's Day 2018 and will complete her lap on Saturday 14th. April.
Where’s Mary today? Track her here. Follow her regular updates on Facebook and Twitter. Mary’s journey is bringing her to as many coastal RNLI stations, raising awareness and vital funds for RNLI Ireland. The initial goal of €20,000 has being smashed and she hopes to double it by the time she returns home. Mary gains strength and daily motivation from the people she meets, the places she sees and above all the donations pouring in. Please donate here
