A breathtaking challenge for the worthiest of causes

How would you mark your 50th year in athletics? Most of us might be tempted to hang up our runners and give ourselves a well earned pat on the back. Not Mary Nolan-Hickey. The dedicated 65 year old runner has completed all 38 Dublin Marathons, but this year she's attempting something truly staggering. Starting on New Year's Day 2018, she's going to run round the entire coast of the island of Ireland, quite literally a "lap of the map". Running in aid of the brave men and women of the RNLI who risk their lives to save people at sea, Mary will spend months on the road in the harshest of weathers, travelling a distance of nearly 5000 kilometres. Don't let her do it alone! Your sponsorship will support the work of the RNLI in Ireland and ensure Mary has a warm roof over her head at the end of each day's exertions.  There are lots of ways to get involved, from events, to volunteering and more...

Who am I?

My name is Mary Nolan-Hickey and at the age of 65, I am about to set out on an epic journey, running and walking around the coast of the entire island of Ireland.

What are we trying to achieve?

As far as I know, what I am doing has not been done before by a woman, at least not by a 65 year old woman!

The distance is said to be between 3717km to 5000km. No-one seems to know the exact distance.

Thank You

Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.

The RNLI is a critical, life saving first response organisation helping to keep our friends and family safe both on and off-shore.
